Volunteersim News
I was both saddened and surprised in January when Red Frye, Administrator at Big Country Baptist Assembly, called and announced that both he and his wife Cindy were resigning their respective positions there. They have been a blessing to our camp for five years and did much to turn around the retreat season bookings at BCBA.

The Executive Committee portion of the Executive Board of BCBA serves as both the personnel committee and search committee for the camp, and we quickly went to work. First, we were fortunate to get Wilburn Booth and his wife Shirley to serve in interim capacities until such time as a new Administrator could be hired. Wilburn loves the Lord and has served as a Camp Administrator/Manager and Interim Administrator at more than one of the Baptist encampments in Texas. This couple has done a tremendous job keeping things running during the interim. If you happen to go to BCBA before they leave, take time to thank this couple for their faithfulness.

God has led Larry Searcy to Big Country to serve as our next Administrator. Larry and his wife, Karen, bring much experience to BCBA. They have served in numerous capacities in several camps during their time in the Christian camping ministry. I am sure that God has great things in store for our camp and that this couple will continue to move BCBA to greater heights during their tenure.

Because this has happened early in the calendar year, the camp is going to be hard pressed to find enough summer staff employees for this year. This is where volunteers can make a huge difference. We need both individuals and couples who are willing to volunteer a week or more at the camp assisting the full-time staff during the summer camping season. Volunteers will be needed in the kitchen, housekeeping, grounds keeping, maintenance, office, and gift shop areas. Volunteers can make the difference in whether or not everything gets done that needs to be done during this busy camping season.

If you think that you can volunteer a week or two, or even just for a day, please call me at the number below, or call Larry out at the camp. Housing and meals are given to the volunteers during the time they serve there. You will be doing Kingdom work, regardless of the area you serve in.

Pray that God would show you where He would have you serve.

As always, I look forward to your call.
